WOOD INFO

RE: YOUR WOOD PIECE(S):

Regardless of the type or thickness or size of wood, please note:

  1. Although each piece of wood is hand-selected and care is taken to select the best pieces/boards/sheets/planks of wood available at the time of purchase, wood does have natural imperfections that may include:
    • knots
    • splits
    • varied grain patterns
    • splintering
  2. Although each piece of wood is hand-selected and care is taken to select the best pieces/boards/sheets/planks of wood available at the time of purchase, the manufacturer's and/or warehouse imperfections may include:
    • splits
    • stamped/printed text
    • small dents
    • slight curves/bends
    • splintering
    • scuff marks, etc.
    • staple marks from tags
    • putty repairs
    • saw blade marks
  3. Pieces are hand-cut & hand-sanded & hand-drilled:
    • There will be imperfections in the shape of pattern.
    • No two will be exactly alike.
    • There may be imperfections in the cut edges of the wood.
    • There may be saw blade marks.
    • There may be (paintable) puttied areas.
    • There may be (paintable) pencil marks.
    • There may be splintering &/or puttied repair on the reverse side of project with drilled holes.
  4. SIZE OF WOOD: Please note: The way lumber is measured, it is NOT the actual thickness nor width. IE: 1"x 8" board = approx. .75" thick by approx. 7.25" wide.

SINGLE SIDED vs. DOUBLE-SIDED PROJECTS:

If you purchased a single-sided projected, there is a chance that the reverse side may not be usable for another project for a variety of reasons. If a double-sided project was purchased, care was taken to make sure both sides were usable for your project.

TYPES OF WOOD USED, DEPENDING ON PROJECT:

Porch Leaners / Growth Charts and other boards:

TYPE OF WOOD = Common board; Pine; or whitewood or other similar.

Wood cut outs, door/wall hangers, etc.:

1/4" BIRCH PLYWOOD This is what we primarily use , unless otherwise stated or otherwise selected by you when options are given. This birch plywood has an attractive appearance, as well as a smooth finish for painting. The 1/4" thickness allows for sturdiness, yet is lightweight enough to be safer (if it falls) than heavier options.

WHAT WE USE THIS TYPE OF WOOD FOR:

  • Door hangers
  • Porch/Outdoor Projects
  • Seasonal
  • Indoor projects

1/2" MDF This wood has a smooth finish for painting. The 1/2" thickness is nice and sturdy for everyday use.

WHAT WE USE THIS TYPE OF WOOD FOR:

  • Everyday projects
  • Indoor projects
